I’ve shared three updates about what’s happening here at Liberal Confessions via the “Chat” feature on the Substack app since November — but only realized last night that many subscribers most likely don’t have this app and aren’t seeing them! Duh.
If that’s not you and you’ve already read them, you can skip to the new Alaska photos at the bottom of this post now :) But if you have no idea what I’m talking about, please do read on . . .
First, the Substack app is a great way to conveniently access all your subscriptions on your smartphone or tablet. (It doesn’t yet work on a computer.) I highly recommend it.
The “Chat” feature on this app is intended for group messaging among subscribers. I’ve only used it, though, to provide a few updates that seemed unworthy of an actual post. In retrospect, this wasn’t a smart move on my part, as many readers probably don’t use the app.
If that’s you, here’s an abbreviated recap:
My previous post, “Casting a Wider Net,” is no longer paywalled. So if you’re curious about my list of recommended books, newsletters, podcasts, etc., and couldn’t access it originally, you may want to check it out now.
I provided a few more recs on yesterday’s Chat, including a free “Political Compass” quiz that you may find interesting.
If you’re a paid subscriber, thank you again so much for your support! It truly means a lot and is greatly appreciated.
I’ve put paid subscriptions “on hold” for three months as I start working on a book-length draft of the themes I’ve been exploring here at LC. This simply means that your subscription is extended for free, nothing else changes.
I was in Alaska for two weeks in November and am sharing some additional photos that give a sense of just how mind-blowingly beautiful Juneau is. While it was a challenging visit and not a vacation by any means, I very much appreciated being there.
OK, that’s it for now. Except to add that moving forward, I’ll share these updates here rather than on Chat, and try to use that feature more as intended. I would love to have more feedback and discussion, maybe that will help . . .
In the meantime, sending best wishes for a happy, healthy, safe, and prosperous 2023!
We were in Juneau many years ago when we took the ferry from Seattle up the Inside Passage. We had our sleeping bags and slept on the ferry deck. Happy New Year, a bit late!
Beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing!
